There Is No Right Path?

no right path

There is no right path. Only the one that allows you to sleep soundly and wake up excited. (Jennifer Louden)

No right path? You’re kidding! All my life I’ve been taught to do the right thing. And I guess that’s an important part of growing up and becoming a part of a culture and a society. You can’t kill people, and you can’t speed through red lights, because others will suffer. Those are obvious.

But what about the more subtle decisions we face in everyday life? Is there also no right path there? It took me a long time to learn to listen to my inner voice and find the balance between respecting others and respecting myself. This has become especially important during the Covid pandemic. I have said no to so many invitations that I would normally have said “yes” to. I have stopped a few activities that I really love because my inner voice says they don’t feel safe. Yes, I miss them, and will return to them one day, but I don’t feel victimized or left out, because it was me who made a conscious choice based on my values and beliefs about what actions will allow me to sleep soundly.

And you know what? I’ve found new online  activities that I can do safely from home that I love! When a door closes a window does really open! There is a magic feeling in following the path that feels right to ME. It’s very liberating and extremely empowering! There’s a ME inside, anchoring me and centering me and guiding me along a unique path to my best life possible!
